The Capricorn (Winter) Solstice occurs on Friday, December 21, 2018 at 5:22 p.m. EST as we experience the shortest day of the year and celebrate the return of the Light in our hemisphere. The next day we have the Full Moon in Cancer, ushering new beginnings at the earliest degree of the zodiac.
The Sun in cardinal earth sign Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, the planet of structure, form and function. This brings us down to earth and reminds us of the importance of building a solid base of support from which we can draw strength.
Capricorn energy is innately capable and has a strong sense of how things work in the three dimensional world. By engaging in daily routines and healthy practices, our overall well-being benefits from these stabilizing forces.
The Moon is in its own sign of cardinal water sign Cancer.
This magnifies the importance of going within and following our heart.
Cancer represents home, roots, nurturance and emotional support.
By being willing to open ourselves to love, we lighten our hearts.
When we feel at home in our hearts, we can take that with us wherever we go.
And that inner light will continue to grow brighter.
This Capricorn/Cancer polarity presents us with the possibility of standing on solid ground, centered in that balance point of peace and stillness, feeling nourished in our inner emotional world and stable in the outer physical world.
Happy Solstice, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
