The best way to engage in a practice is to do it as part of a daily routine. I do not need to feel like doing it in order to do it. This is where it becomes a discipline. The investing of time in a discipline pays off because I am able to count on that routine as having done something very positive and healthy for myself. I find the rippling effect of positive energy is already activated by simply beginning to do the practice.
I am inspired to write about what the word practice means. Essentially it means doing and doing repeatedly. Through this doing, a level of mastery is implied since over time the difficult becomes easier. Each time I repeat my list of positive affirmations, do a mantra practice or a round of my T'ai Chi form, I am filling my heart, mind and body with more repetitions that begin to accrue. Over time, they become the very fabric of my being.
